Do An Internship At The LAA

We also welcome students, recent college graduates or professionals who are interested in pursuing more formal internships with us. We do not offer paid internships. Some students may be able to get school credit for their internships.
Spring, summer and fall internships are available in the following programs:

• Family ServicesRecommended for social work, human services, public health, clinical psychology and public policy majors
• Employment Services
  Recommended for human services, human resources, business and management majors
• Immigration Legal Services
  Internships available only for Emory University students during the school year. Summer internships are available to first-and second-year law school students
• Translation Services
  Recommended for Spanish, linguistics and translation majors
• Adult EducationRecommended for Spanish, marketing and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) majors
• Resource Development (Communications, Fundraising and Special Events)Recommended for journalism, mass communications/media, public relations and international studies majors
• Policy and AdvocacyRecommended for political science, public policy and international studies majors
• Youth Programs
  Recommended for education majors

We are now accepting applications for fall semester 2015. The LAA will be accepting applications until Friday, July 24, 2015. Fall semester internships will start in mid-August and end at the beginning of December.

 

 

Internships are competitive. To apply for an internship, please submit a résumé, cover letter and two references to volunteer@thelaa.org

Colleges That Change Lives Event - August 12, 2015



 

 CTCL is dedicated to the advancement and support of a student-centered college search process. Namely, they work to educate families that the criteria used by most college bound students and their counselors, such as name and prestige, do not acknowledge the importance of understanding an individual student’s needs and how they “fit” with the mission and identity of an individual college community.

Last year the College Expo was awesome and this year the College Expo is going to be bigger and better, the College Expo, is a program of National College Resources Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of curtailing the high school dropout rate.

Our College Expo is designed to help students immediately with access to college, pathways to great careers and financial aid to help fund their education.  On site we will have educational consultants to help with college and career planning, student athlete assistance for students that want to play sports in college, and financial aid experts to help students fund their education.  There will be exciting seminars in selected rooms for students of ALL ages and parents to learn:

• How to find money for college
• 411 about Ivy Leagues, Baby Ivies, WUEs, and 150% tuition free colleges
• 411 for the Student Athlete
• How to write your dream essay to get into your Dream College
• How to get A’s in English through Hip Hop (featuring Grammy nominated artist YoYo)

Plus, we will have 40+ colleges on site, sharing information students and parents need to know, available scholarships/grants programs at their college, and some colleges will be accepting students on the spot and waiving application fees, and even giving away scholarships on the SPOT! Last year students received over 3 million dollars in scholarships,  This year our goal is 6 million!

So bring 12-15 copies of your official transcripts, SAT/ACT scores and a winning attitude because you are going to win at the College Expo.
