  • The Discover Program is a way for you to explore different career paths in the medical field.
  • The program is for high school aged individuals who may have an interest in medicine but are not sure if it is the right career for them.
  • The program is best suited for those students who may need guidance and mentorship to turn an early interest into a real life plan.

Joe Francomano Scholarship

Description:






Deadline:
The Achievement Foundation, Inc., an independent not-for-profit organization, provides an annual award of $5,000 in memory of Joseph Francomano, a past president of Junior Achievment. The award, which may be renewed for a total of four years, can be used at any accredited four-year college or university for any program leading to a baccalaureate degree.

February 1 for scholarship starting September of the same year.

Ron Brown Scholar Program


The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Current college students are not eligible to apply.

To become a Student Leader, you must:
  • Currently be a junior or senior in high school
  • Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit/charitable organization and work 35 hours a week
  • Be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship through the end of September 2014
  • Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC (July 13- July 18, 2014) (All expenses paid as part of the Student Leaders Program. This week will be part of your 8-week experience.)
  • Be a student in good standing at your school
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator.

Summer Youth Employment





You must bring in all of the required documentation and complete an application in person at AWDA:  DEADLINE is January 31, 2013.
  • 2012-2013 High School Transcript (Must show current grade level)
  • Georgia STATE ID or Driver’s License (School ID Will Not Be Accepted)
  • Social Security Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residence (Current Lease, or Utility bill-gas, light, water or home phone bill)
  • Register Online for Selective Service (Males 18 yrs or older) Prior to arrival
