2014 VOX Media Cafe Program
Whether your teen wants to interview the latest musical discovery by Justin Bieber's vocal coach, cover breaking news in downtown Atlanta, learn photographic techniques from a New York Times photographer or learn videography techniques from professionals at Cartoon Network and CNN, opportunities abound at VOX Media Café in 2014.
In 3-week experiential sessions held in June and July, Atlanta-area teens ages 13-19 can work in VOX’s downtown teen newsroom, overlooking Peachtree Street, and attend fun media field trips across the city in VOX's hands-on and portfolio-building summer camp. With each 3-week session open to only 16 participants, VOX Media Café offers a deeply immersive experience taught by acclaimed writers and working professionals from CNN/Turner Broadcasting, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta magazine and other media outlets. Included in each session are opportunities to create broadcast-ready video packages, website programming, the fundamentals of writing and reporting, and photojournalism skills from our expert faculty.
Past instructors have included current U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey, Pulitzer Prize-winner Hank Klibanoff, CNN’s Mark Bixler and Moni Basu, novelist Joshilyn Jackson, memoirist Jessica Handler, poetry slam champion Theresa Davis, V103’s Sonia Murray, WABE's Jim Burress and Time magazine photographer Joey Ivansco.
