Prudential Spirit of Community Award - Apply Today!


The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.

Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state and national level.

Thus far, it has recognized more than 115,000 young people who've made a difference - and inspired countless others to consider how they might contribute to their communities.

The Spirit of Community Awards program also honors youth volunteers in countries outside the U.S. where Prudential has a significant presence: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Ireland, India, China and Brazil.

Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship




The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a selective four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to each of approximately 85 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.

Selection Process and Criteria

The selection process for these awards is rigorous and highly competitive with approximately 85 scholarships awarded each year out of thousands  of applicants. A review panel of distinguished university admissions professionals and faculty judge the applicants using criteria including:
  • Achievement and academic ability
  • Financial need
  • Persistence
  • Leadership
  • Service to others

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. Selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, up to 40 students will become Jack Kent Cooke Scholars and have access to funding for up to four years for undergraduate studies.
Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.

This highly competitive scholarship includes:
  • Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school

The Horatio Alger Association seeks to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who have demonstrated integrity, determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, the personal aspiration to make a unique contribution to society, strength of character, and financial need.
 
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The eligibility criteria to be considered for all Horatio Alger National and State Scholarship Programs are as follows:
¨     Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the United States, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring/Summer of 2017 with plans to enter college in the United States no later than the Fall following graduation

¨     Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four year-institution)

¨     Critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

¨     Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities

¨     Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

¨     Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0

¨     Be a United States citizen

Bank of America Student Leaders

Every year, through our Student Leaders program we help connect 225 community-minded high school juniors and seniors to employment, skills development and service. They’re awarded paid summer internships with local nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity and Boys and Girls Clubs of America and participate in a national leadership summit in Washington, D.C.

 Student Leaders is part of our ongoing commitment to preparing young people for a brighter future. We will be accepting applications for the 2017 program from 10/31- 1/27.

In addition to paid summer internships, Student Leaders will participate in the 2017 Student Leaders Summit in Washington D.C. from July 9th-14th. This year’s summit will focus on building a more inclusive society and pathways to leadership.
