The Outstanding Young Business Person is a 9th-12th student who embraces opportunity and
entrepreneurship, has a clear desire to be a better person, promotes innovative thinking, and continues to grow personally and professionally. We are looking for students who demonstrate growth over their JA Fellows experience. The OYBP will be able to acknowledge challenges they faced in their company and how they overcame those challenges. This person will display professionalism, great communication skills, and have an interest in pursuing a career in business.
There are two stages for this category:
o Part 1 – Essay & Student Resume submission
o Part 2 – In-person Interview
OYBP Part 1 - Essay
The first part of the individual competition requires all interested students to e-mail a 250-500 word response to the statement below along with a current student resume by 8:00p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 to jafellowsdocs@gmail.com.
Responses are to be typed as a professional word document and included as an attachment.
The students with the top responses will move onto the second phase consisting of an in-person
interview. Please, note that you have to be present the day of the competition for the interview.

Essay Question
The JA Fellows theme this year is Business Etiquette: Professional Skills for Tomorrow. Please describe what business etiquette means to you and how you have exemplified and embodied the concept while in the JA Fellows program. Likewise, please explain how the concept of business etiquette has shaped your understanding of business, and how the concept can be translated to your academics, your personal life, and the relationships that you have built with your peers and mentors. Lastly, as a JA Fellows, you’ve had the opportunity to become a real entrepreneur. How has this experience impacted your personal growth as a young professional, and how has this program influenced your post-secondary plans?
OYBP Part 2: Interview
Interviews will take place at the annual competition in front of a panel of judges. Student must be
present the day of the competition (Skype or phone interviews are not permitted).

Interviews will be a maximum of 10 minutes in length and may cover any aspect of your JA Fellows experience. Should any questions be asked about current events or trends (from a business perspective), all students will be given the same prior notice about the potential topics or questions.
