2015 LEAP
 
Program Date: July 12th – July 18th, 2015 

The LEAP Foundation, Inc. (“LEAP”) was formed in 2008 as a California not-forprofit corporation. LEAP sponsors six day conferences designed to teach leadership skills to participating students, aged 15 to 24, in small groups under the guidance of the conference faculty and individual coaches.  Participating students are housed in University of California, Los Angeles dormitories and enjoy day and evening activities.  The conference is led by its founder, Dr. Bill Dorfman.
Summer will be here before we know it, and The Leap Foundation has offered a conference scholarship opportunity for two JA Fellows current Participants or Alumni.   
This year's event will be at UCLA, July 12th - July 18th, for young adults 15 - 24 years old.  The scholarship  covers all costs - meals, housing and program costs ($3400 value). Please note that transportation is not included in the scholarship and would be the student/parents responsibility.  To be considered for the scholarship interested candidates will need to submit a application for scholarship.  Upon review and consideration, notification will be provided to the two students selected.  Interested candidates will need to submit their application no later than Friday, May 1, 2015.  Please use the link below to access the application and submission details.

DESCRIPTION:
Do you like variety? RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedule coordination
  • Writing memos and other correspondence
  • Assist in coordination of student programs
  • General administrative tasks
  • Attend meetings and collect notes/details
  • Handle calls, email and appointments
  • Assist with promotional efforts
EXPECTATIONS:
  • Ability to work on several projects at a time
  • Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a small, cross-functional team
  • Ability to work in a creative environment, while still being able to take creative direction from managers
  • Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, responsive to change and open to feedback.
  • Great attitude and team player mentality
  • Sense of urgency – must meet deadlines
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Currently interest in a degree as an administrative assistant, business administration, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • Able to work at least 24 hours per week
Internship is an unpaid opportunity, however, scholarships will be awarded to outstanding interns at session end.

Summer Teaching Internship
We are seeking two students who are creative, hard working, and committed to educating middle and high school students. You will receive extensive training, continuous support and the opportunity to lead a classroom. Throughout the summer, you will assume leadership roles and practice persistence, creativity, flexibility and problem solving.  Additionally, you will work alongside other exceptional college students to plan additional modules, facilitate, and write the formal module sections.

Qualifications
  • Rising or current college student
  • Experience working with youth
  • Interest in the field of education and personal finance
  • Strong work ethic, ability to solve problems independently
  • Strong ability to work both individually and as a member of a team
  • Reliable and available 3-4 days per week
As a teaching intern, you will:
  • Complete 30 hours of training.
  • Gain 75+ hours of teaching experience.
  • Learn to consistently engage 100% of students.
  • Teach a core academic course to multiple small classes.
  • Design additional activities and modules.
  • Participate in department meetings to prepare and practice lessons.
  • Learn to give and receive constructive feedback regularly.
  • Thoughtfully plan, execute, evaluate, and evolve your work
