Pre-College
Leadership Academy
E3!
Educate. Equip. Empower
Beulah Heights University (BHU) develops global
leaders through Christ-centered education for marketplace and ministry. This
mission includes the leadership development of youth in our community. The
Pre-College Leadership Academy (PLA) is a youth
leadership program at BHU that is designed to give high school students
(10th through 12th grades) an opportunity to develop their leadership skills to
promote educational success, community involvement and career awareness.
This one-day program will be structured
to not only provide viable leadership development skills and activities, but it
will also address relevant issues that today's youth face that hinder their
personal, educational and professional success.
The PLA will take place on the campus of Beulah
Heights University from 9 am - 3 pm on March 29, 2014. Check-in and
continental breakfast will begin at 8:15 am and the Opening Session will begin
at 9 am. During the one-hour Opening Session, the Trailblazer
Leadership Award will be presented to Michael Thurmond,
Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District and former Labor
Commissioner for the State of Georgia.
There will be four concurrent breakout sessions
throughout the day and lunch will be provided to all youth – compliments of
Chick-fil-a. In addition, there will be a Successful College Planning
Workshop for parents from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The program will culminate
with a Closing Program where BHU will recognize all participants completing the
leadership academy and award a $1000 scholarship to one of the youth in
attendance.
